When you are busy living the life of Mom, Employee, Wife and Responsible Adult, it is very easy to forget about self-care! Most moms put self-care very last on their list of priorities.
It always seems more important to get the kids their snacks, lunch or toys than it is to remember to feed yourself something nutritious or take a shower.
Self-care is so important which is why I came up with these 6 self-care tips for the busy mom.

Drink Water!
Staying hydrated is so important Drinking water keeps us feeling full, is good for our skin and helps us stay healthy. “But I hate water”. Try adding a slice of lemon to make your water feel a little more special! Or go really wild and mix it up with a slice of lime!
Get in Some Extra Steps
Whether you’re taking care of your babies or working full time in an office, it’s important to work in some extra exercise throughout the day. Wear a Fitbit and try to beat your personal goal. You can even make it a challenge with a friend to see who can get the most steps in a day.
Splurge on some Lotion
I keep a really good smelling lotion in my van. That way I can feel like I’m pampering myself when I’m sitting in the car line or waiting in traffic by giving myself a mini hand massage. Bump this up a notch and put a finger file and nail buffer in the glove box. Then when you find yourself waiting on the kids you can give yourself a mini manicure.
Read a book
Reading an entire book in one sitting is a thing of the past now that you are a busy mom. That doesn’t mean you have to give up reading though. Read a chapter at a time or listen to audiobooks, you can still enjoy reading even as a busy mom. Audiobooks not your thing? Then may I suggest podcasts?
Brain Dump
My biggest self-care routine is the brain dump. I always have forty different lists running through my head. It is overwhelming and really wears on me. So anytime I realize my mind is going a mile a minute I will sit down and do a brain dump on Trello. I use Trello for EVERYTHING. I no longer have pieces of paper all over the place.
Use That Time in the Car
Honestly, the school pick-up line, grocery pick-up parking and all those other places you find yourself waiting in the vehicle are perfect moments to take some time for yourself. Those moments alone in my van are my favourite time to take some time for my own self-care.
How do you take time for self-care?
