If this was a normal year on October 31st kids everywhere where be going door to door collecting candy. This isn’t a normal year though, we are still in a pandemic. Believe it or not you can still celebrate Halloween during a pandemic.
It was a very hard decision for us but we decided that we would not be participating in trick or treating this year. We stick to our bubble, we do remote learning, we order our groceries for pick up etc. We have not done all this to throw it all out the window and let our kids go out on Halloween. So we were left with finding a solution to still let them have a safe COVID-19 Halloween.
I went searching and found so many great ideas that I decided I should write a blog post to share for anyone else who finds themselves making the same decision we have made.
5 WAYS TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN DURING COVID-19

Candy Hunt
This was my favourite idea and the one we have decided to do. It’s an Easter egg hunt but with Halloween candy. I have already told my kids this idea and they are super excited about it.
Bake Some Halloween Treats
Kids love baking and getting to eat their creations. Bake up a storm and make your favorite treats Halloween themed. Bat shaped peanut butter cookies anyone?
Movies and Popcorn
If you are not going trick or treating chances are you are not handing out candy either. So turn off those lights, pop the popcorn and make it a movie night with Halloween themed movies.
Socially Distanced Parade
Halloween is on a Saturday this year. Take advantage of it and hold a costume parade in the afternoon through the neighbourhood. Get other families on board, maybe it can become a tradition.
Have an online party
By now we are all used to Zoom meetings and so are the kids. Get dressed up in costume and have a Zoom style Halloween party.
How will you be celebrating Halloween this year?
